They are flowmaster 40s. DO they have packing? I don't think they do.

 

Did you wear ear protection during your last shift? The cab of the engine can damage hearing. Age will do that, too.

 

Yeah I have lost some high pitch hearing from the sirens, but the low is good. And yes the hearing may be going with age along with the knees and back. And I am probably not much older than you so get ready.

How old is everyone in here anyways? I think Im smack dab in the middle. I know there is some youngsters here. I'm 26.

Oh and the only mufflers with packing are straight thru mufflers and they ALL can blow out (except drag racing ones). If the muffler is perfectly round, the thing has packing, oval shaped or squared-like shape means baffles. There are a few exceptions out there Im sure.

I rechecked everything today that I could and stil saw nothing loose. I even looked in the pipes as far as I could see and nothing noted. I checked the intake and all looked good (I didn't think that would affect it but I am at a loss). I still haven't checked the filter tough.

Lol, same here! Hearing loss my be from concerts too, not sure. Sight is ok, mind has BEEN gone however.

 

I remember my Hooker Maxflows getting quieter after a couple thousand miles. How long have you had the 40s on?
