Default I have a 03 1500hd and i need to improve gasmilage

I was just wondering since i am getting around 12.4 with gas how can i improve it. I know that with an exhaust and intake i can get better gas milage but how much like 1mpg more? or 2. since then i would need to know if it is really worth spending more money on intake and exhaust if it doesnt really help my fuel problem. also im planning on getting a trunk cover does that also help fuel mileage. I do try and keep my foot out of it. so just wondering if they are really cost benefit upgrades.

real fuel mileage improvment begins at the rear end and tranny....with this being a HD truck I would guess you got some pretty low gearing in the rear end......but then you get into computer reprograms and all that...sometimes a simple tune up will help alot.......air filter and plugs n wires

Do like I do and let the wife drive it...lol Let her flip the gas bill for a week or month or 2...lol It saved me quite a bit since she drove it to the park and ride parking lot.

OK. Everyone forgot the main mileage improver. The only one that is 100% guaranteed to work. I can't believe yall forgot this. Driving habits. I'll tell you again, Driving habits. Get your foot off that gas pedal! Keep the rpms below 2000 when possible. And it is always possible. I do it all the time. 70 for me is almost 2000 rpm in my 1998. I get 19 mpg pretty regularly. I'm also a college student and I'm 19. So don't say college students can't drive like grandpas. If you do straight city driving, you're pretty much screwed, though.
