friend of mine has a 97 saturn and its having a real hard time starting now, before it used to sometimes sputter while accelerating. now it wont start yet i can still hear the fuel pump running after replacing the pump relay. any ideas hear radther not go for the pump unless im absolutely sure.

 

check the fuel pressure

 

even eaiser way spray a little throttle body cleaner in the thottle body if that doesnt start it, its not a fuel problem

 

tried starter fluid in the throttle body that used to get it to start but not anymore after changing the fuel filter. the throttle body does look quite dirty internally.

 

it will run on starting fliud if it doesnt it would try lookin for spark

 

I'd check the ignition module and coil packs out if it's not a fuel problem. Might check and make sure the spark plugs aren't fouled out but that would make it only run sluggish some of the time. That'd be a constant problem I think.

 

what motor is in that Saturn?

 

like a .8 or 1.9l dohc. tried new coil packs new module and plugs and wires made it run better while working now it wont start.

 

Ah heck, just tell him he needs a truck.
