Default If it is cold out, I have no RADIO... WTF?!!

Can anyone help me with some ideas about this. If it gets below 40º or so, my radio will not make any noise at all. The radio comes on but no noise at all. I have changed the head unit and heard it play awesome above 40º but cannot get anything when it is cold out. It has came back on after 15 or 20 minutes of driving in the cold though... I am baffled... any help / ideas?

Maybe frozen speakers? I know my BRAND NEW speakers I just put in a few months ago tend to sound blown when it's really cold out
