I'm new to truck modification. Where do I find out how to install a K&N air filter?

Is it something I can do myself or should I get a shop to do it?

 

You can do it. I suggest you purchase a Hayes manual or a Chilton's for your truck. It will tell you how to do everything you can do to your truck...

 

Cold air intakes are easy and should come with the detailed instructions on how to install it. If you can read and comprehend pictures, then you can do it with simple hand tools most of the time. K&N is really good at making the instruction easy to read and understand with lots of pictures. Look at K&N's web site and they should havetheinstallation instructions so that you can take a look.

 

I installed mine on my 99 Silverado 5.3, I'm not mechanically inclined at all! Mine went together pretty well. I had to take the metal shroud out to install the seal ( didn't follow the destructions) and I had to trim some of my radiatorto clear the air tube. You can definately do it your self! Good luck.

 

I think he means the replacement filter...
