Hi, I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado and was just trying to put a toggle switch in place of the cargo lamp switch since the chip which goes to the factory toggle switch broke. I got a successful connection with the cargo lamp , however my dash lights are really dim, and when I toggle the cargo lamp off, the dash lights go out. The other issue is that when I turn off my truck and pull the key out the alarm to tell me that my lights are on (which they're not) is going off. Any suggestions?

 

I would put it back to the way it was. Buy a new OEM switch from the dealer.
