Okay i rewired the lights and left out the trailer wiring and it still does the same thing. the tail lights do not work at all and the lights are dim when you have the hazard lights on. also the turn signals work fine but when you push the brake when the left signal is activated the right side starts to blink and vice versa this is really driving me insane. i checked the wires before i hooked them up and they are all working fine so i am thinking something is screwy from where i hooked them up and the lights what do you guys think. its driving me nuts!

You said you checked the lights before hooking them up, but did you also check the signal before the connection to make sure the expected signal was coming through? You may have to start tracing wires back till you find a break.

 

maybe some pins on the plugs got bent when you installed them and they are touching somewhere. without being there its kinda hard to say much.
