THE G80 SOUNDS GREAT. AS LONG AS IT ISNT LIKE THE LSD THAT GM USED TO USE. IT WAS A BUNCH OF WIEGHTS AND SPRINGS THAT SLAMMED WHEN IT LOCKED AND USUALLY ONLY WORKED GOING AROUND LEFT TURNS. I THINK IT WAS CALLED A GOV-LOCK. MOST PEOPLE I TALKED TO CALLED IT A TIMEX WATCH CUZ OF ALL THE MOVING PARTS. I SWAPPED MINE OUT FOR A DETROIT TRU-TRAC LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL. BY FAR THE BEST THING I EVER HAD. NO HOPPING AROUND TURNS BUT AS SOON AS YOU FLOOR IT THE LOCK AND STAY LOCKED. ALSO NOT CLUTCHES TO WORRY ABOUT WEARING OUT.. AND ABOUT THE INSTALLATION..VERY SIMPLE. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS REMOVE THE OLD CARRIER, TAKING NOTE OF WHHAT SHIMS WHERE WHERE, SWAP THE RING GEAR, REINSTALL, TORQUE TO SPECS, FILL IT WITH OIL AND DRIVE. 1-2 HOURS MAX TIME.

I wish it was that easy for us guys with the 99-07 bodystyle. We have the friggin' press-on bearings...

Think about it, either 4WD or G80 rear, either way only two wheels get the power to the ground.
