Default Looking to buy Truck with high miles HELP!!!!!!

OK, my neighbour wants to sell me his truck for 10,000. it has 244k miles on it already though. It is a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD .
As far as specs go i am not too worried. It is a beautiful truck. What DOES worry me though is the insanely high miles. What i want to know is "if maintained properly" does this truck have more life in it or am i just asking for trouble and soon to be dead engine??

Any help on this or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also any prior to purchasing recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hope to get some feedback. Thanks

If it's maintained properly, you shouldn't have to worry about it, I do happen to know that that is an extremely high price for that truck. My uncle has a 2004 2500HD SLT with 110,000 that he almost traded in and the dealer would only give him a $7000 value on that. Stay away unless he cuts at least 25% off the price.

Look at the blue book value online. Go by that and you will see that mileage is what brings down value alot. Even if the body is perfect, the powerplant is the main thing. IMO, I wouldn't give more than $6500 for it. It would be great if you took $7k cash and he went for it.

I purchased my 2001 Silverado 1500 for $4,000. It had 253,000 miles on it and good overall condition.

Motor is getting ready to give up before too long but its because its started using oil. bnot much to do at this point but replace it.

I would have to wonder what the bearings in the motor look like. I have had motors with a 100k that were worn to the copper. I just can't imagine at 245K the motor could have alot of life left in it. Plus the front end parts. Id be looking to buy that truck CHEAP!!!!!!!!! If you tried to trade that at a dealer Id think you would be lucky if they would give you $3-4000 on a trade. If you look on Flea-Bay you will see a pile of these 200+ K mile trucks for sale. They don't go for much if they even sell at all.
