I was crawling around underneath my truck as I find myself doing more and more often these days, and I noticed something.

My spare tire was missing. The only evidence of there even being one there is the frayed bit of cable that used to hold it in place. I could have sworn it was there when I got the truck, and I sure as hell haven't used it. My question is:

Has anyone else experienced this phenomina? If it did indeed break loose during a trip into town, I dearly hope it didn't take a negative bounce and collide with a sub compact full of children.

Thats funny now im going to check mine asap i know my jack was missing whem i bought it Damm I need to do something about that real soon.

 

Maybe Chevy used the same cable they did on the Tailgates both my tailgate cables rotted right through and snaped.
Thats prob what happened to your spare sounds like GM owes you a new cable and spare tire Do we smell anoter recall?

Lots of spare tires are being stolen lately. Cut cable.

 

That happended on my 97' luckly i was pulling into my driveway when it fell off. When i went and looked the line had freaied and split. I actually dont think i ever got it put back on.

 

Mine is still there and it is the original from when i bought it knew. I would say someone stole it before it was factory defect.

 

I would say some one stole it also.

 

that kind of thing, i would hope, would have been a recall and all over the newsif it was factory defect.

 

mine is still hanging there granted its siezed. but its still hangin. and its not rusty at all.
