Lowering Kit (2007 Silverado)
Very nice truck! I just bought an '07 and I am looking to lower it. I was thinking 2/4 just to give it a better stance, but now I am thinking that that will not be enough.
I don't think I will go as low as yours, but I do have a couple of questions, if you don't mind.
You mentioned that you have a total of 5/7, are you counting the tires in your total or did you order a 5/7 kit. I am thinking of going with the either a 3/5 or a 4/6, but I want to keep my stock tires and I want it to be level. Do they make a 3/6 kit???
Thanks in advance.

I have my truck sitting at 3/5 right now because I could not get the camber to adjust properly with it that low, it's not impossible to adjust, just would require me to spend more money than I want right now. It rides well and looks good. It's also sits level.
You will not get stock 275/55/20 inch tires to fit under a 4/6 drop, my 275/45/20 rubbed over large bumps.

Does the back still sit a little high? If i couldn't get it perfectly level, I would rather have it a little higher in the back.
Thanks again.

Very cool. Thank you for the info. Just to clarify, if I went with the 3/5, I should be fine with the stock 20' rims and stock tires?

That looks perfect! Are those the stock tires or the replacements? What kit did you go with? $$$?
I'm okay with 3/8 higher in the back. In one of your posts, you mentioned spindles, on the 3/5 what can I expect to have to replace/how involved is the 3/5?
I lifted my Ford and I have had steering issues ever since, have you experienced anything negative at 3/5?
I really appreciate the help.

Dude it's no problem, I am glad I can help.
The way it sits right now is on stock tires, I went with the McGaughys kit, I used spindles up front and replaced the springs and shackles in the rear. I bought the 4/6 kit which comes with the spindles and springs up front and leaf springs and shackles for the back, and rear replacement shocks. (you don't have to change your rear shocks at3/5 and it rides fine.) I paid a little over $900 for that kit, you could do the flip kit in the rear and spindles up front and save some money, if you don't mind your axle being a little closer to the frame.
I have no negative issues at the 3/5. I drove it to Oklahoma City and back twice, once when it was 5/7 and once when it was 3/5. When it was 5/7 my back was hurting when I got home, at 3/5 it rides like it did stock. Drove at 80 all the way there and back with no problem.
It looks good lower, but form really does follow function. For what I need it to do, it was just not functional at 5/7. ( I say 5/7 because with the spindles and springs up front it was 5 inches lower up front and when I changed the leafs and shackles in the back, and removed the 1.25 inch block off the axle it was 7 inches lower in the back.)
As far as installation difficulty, it wasn't too bad, but you will need help from a friend. NOTE : do not disconnect both leaf springs at the same time. As a precaution, you may want to disconnect your drive shaft from the rear end and support the front of the pumpkin with a jack stand.
The hardest thing was lowering the gas tank to get the forward left bolt out that holds the left leaf spring. Next would becutting thebump stops off the frame. (the metal part) If you flip the rear you wouldn't have to remove the forward left bolt, just the rear ones.
Man I wish I would have had someone to ask prior to dropping mine...... lol
Hi OCSilverado
I used a DJM lowering Kit(4/6), upper and lower control arms up frontthat keeps the stock ride and flipkit in the rearand new rear shocks. I just received some shorter shackles that will lower the back end down 1 more inch or so to make it as even as possible. With the DJM kit it gives you the ability to adjust your pinion angle to compensate for the heigth adjustment. I will get it realigned and adjust the pinion, then let everyone know the outcome.
