MPG'S

RE: MPG'S
When I was looking for a smaller truck, I couldn't find ANYTHING that got considerable better gas mileage. Even the 4 bangers weren't that great unless they were 2wd, standerd cab, standard bed, with a manual trans. Other then that they were all around the same. Mine is rated 15-19 I think, I get 16 - 19.5ish (maybe 20 but not sure yet). I have 3.73s and a real mild tune at the moment on 265s, so not bad but not great. So I looked at a Yota Tacoma, it was 16-19 with a V6, Nissan 17-20 with a V6 and manual trans, Colorado 17-20 (i think). Keep in mind those trucks are half-pint trucks. And if I looked at V6 full sized trucks they were the same or worse than mine. So I figure if you want any ***** at all and 4wd, you just have to bite the bullet.

my truck's milage blows! i figure for 26 gal tank i got 450 out of it driving missy daisy on the highway. it comes out to 17 mpg. i figured a v6 would be way better but with a heavy foot and heavy truck, what do you expect?
ACR- does your name by chance mean Alachua County Resident? if not and for the rest. it's a gainesville thing the lifers call themselves.

(ACR) Actually no it does'nt mean that, but that's interesting to know.
I guess the 4 X 4 must have some inherent drag in the front driveline that's really causing the reduction. Otherwise it makes no sense! Lighter truck, less gear, smaller engine + multi displacement should yield better mileage. As far as breaking in, I don't buy that argument. New engines are made with greater precision and have much smoother cylinder bores that don't require the same break-in as older engines. This is my third LS-engine based vehicle in two years, the others yielded expected mileage from the get go.
