Default Multi Function Switch Issue

I have a 2000 Work Truck with 277 K on it and believe this switch has gone bad. My turn signal relay is clicking constantly while the truck is running and from some research I have done I believe I have a bad connection. Is is possible to remove the switch and clean it or am I better of buying a new turn signal stalk. Rock Auto has an aftermarket one for approx $100.

Either way I will need to remove the turn signal stalk from the steering column and wanted to know how much of a PITA this will be and if there is anything I should watch out for while in there.

If I recall the multifunction switch isn't all that hard to get out, but if I recall, you need to pull the steering wheel because it hides the bolts that hold the switch on. Also seem to recall that there is a middel e5 external torx that goes in from the bottom of the column and holds the top trim piece down, so don't break that.
