i have a 1992 silverado 350 motor with109,000 milesmy problem is my engine makes a noise like a disel sounds like the hydraulic cam. i just replaced the spark plug wires cuz i thought it was missing but it ddint do it also when i drained my oil i only got like 3 Quarts!!

any ideas ., thanks

 

Is it a nocking or tapping?

 

Any excessive oil buring like when you go up a hill? Does it dog at all?

 

like knocking sounds like its hitting against something and at idle it runns realllly rough [:'(]

sounds like you were too low on oil, and as blackhorse said may have blown up. If you are blowing oil out the exhaust that is a tale tale sign that the motor is done.

 

Maybe not the oil out the exhuast giving it away look at the sides of the block and see if there is a hole. That will confirm the diagnosis. Other than that, you are looking at atleast an engine rebuild. That is just a regular 350 you can get them from Kragen's (Checker's or Schuck's) for like $850. pretty cheap for a long block if you don't want to build it yourself!

 

if it sounds like hammers hitting the pistons it detanating because its running to lean check for vacum leaks and clean the mass air that helps a lot

 

so as i went to home depot today the oil pressure droped tolow pressureand i immiedaltly caught it in time and shut off my engine. went to start it wouldnt start[:@]so i think the engine is finally done whhich sux!!.. anyways time for LT1 baby anyone know where i can get a good one

 

Have yours made into a 383 with performance heads and cam. It would be fast as hell.
