Default Need help - Heat problem

I have a 2001 Silverado 2500 4X4 LT. Occasionally the heat locks on regardless of the temperature setting. Turning the heat control on and off doesn't fix the problem but, turning the ignition off seems to reset it. Dealer says wait for hard failure. WTF? Any thoughts on what needs R/R? Thanks.

I think both sides based on the temperature rise in the cab. It has happened twice so far and I have been alon both times. Next time it happens I will pull over and try to check. Trouble is, it resets when you turn the ignition off (so far).
