need help truck wont start

Default need help truck wont start

hey guys im new here and yall know a lot about these trucks so maybe u can help. i have a 98 chevy k1500 z71 with the 5.7vortec. my problem is that the truck wont start, normally when its hot out. the truck cranks but as soon as i let off the starter it dies. its getting spark and has a new fuel pump and filter. if i waita few hrs it will start when it cools down.any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't really know what the problem is but considering what you are saying I think possibly it is an electrical problem. From what I've been told in the past, when a vehicle has issues like this only once it is warm there is a short in something. Just a thought. Good luck with that.

sounds like your starter solenoid is wearing out. if it wont start when its hot but when its cold you could use a new starter.

It sounds like a theft issue...the truck thinks it being stolen....is there a security lite on??

hey guys heres an update and i tried to do a fuel pres regulator but too much of a pita im also second geussing that it maybe the computer cuz when it is hot like 90f outside it wont start but when it cools down it fires up. also when it does start it revs high by itself like there is xtra fuel in the motor. i have it lined upto be looked at monday so ill keep yall posted

I wander if maybe the ignition module has got problems... this is a similar problem Mitsu Starions face and had a buncha people tell me the ignition module often is the cause. Ofcourse that is on a totally different make and model so who knows.

so i think i found my problem... i had remote start put on about a yr ago and bak in may i had it taken off for my alarm system well the gm bypass thing that lies to the factorysecurity part of the truck was left on and i noticed it was flashing the security light on the dash. so i pulled the bypass out and had the computer reset by a scanner and all is well now. i hope it cures it

maybe...but with the security lite on,it may be a passlock sensor
