Default new gremlin!

My speedo and oil prssure guages are whacking out. Sometimes the speedo is pegged at zero and then other times it is way off. Same thing with oil pressure guage.

I swapping out the cluster a DYI project?

there is a recall for this on 2003, 2004, and some 2005's. TSB # 3001 NHTSA 10008900. I'm going through it right now, calling GM customer Care is a waste of time, go to the dealership, tell them your problems and that you heard it's a recall item

Default Gage Stepper Motors

The problem is the stepper motors on each needle gage. If your truck is not under warranty you can buy new motors on-line and replace them yourself. Cost will be about $30.00 instead of the price on a new cluster. Also, replacing only the motors eliminates the need to have the mileage re-calibrated. Check the website http:www.speedometerrepairguy.com
Phone # is 507-429-4489. Name is David Ruberg. I talked to him on the phone and he was very helpful.

He sold me updated stepper motors as well as installation instructions. They solider onto the circuit board. Give it a shot first. Worst can happen is you end up buying a new cluster anyway!

Good Luck!!

Thanks, I'm going to check into this. Also, I found a guy on eBay from Ct and all he does is rebuilds witha one day turn. All new stepper motors and lights for $170.00.

1st thing is to see the dealer about the recall, though.

So, I missed the recall by 4,000 miles. Oh well. The good news is that the guy in CT just shipped back my rebuilt cluster and it works great. He replaced all the stepper motor, light bulbs, and fixed the issue of it not working right at low voltage.

Digital dash repair, CT, google him, he's money.
