Default new here with a 97 4.3L vortech K1500

hey everyone i'm new here.

i have a 1997 K1500 4X4 automatic and i want to swap out the 4.3 vortec for a 305 or 350. is it hard? i heard that i can drop a carbed engine in and everything bolts up perfect, (tranny bellhousing, motor mounts are the same.) is this true?

You will need new motor mounts and a lower pressure fuel pump. You will also need a stand alone computer to operate the tranny if you have an automatic because the ECM is what tells it when to shift and if you go with a carbed engine the stock ECM is going to be all screwed up..Just do some Google searches and you can find alot of info. You might consider buying a used TBI 350 from the same year truck, make sure you get the computer too!
