New Member and a Couple Questions....
Hello all, new member, and new owner of a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab, Chrome Edition....
I did some searching, and ran across a few posts, but I wanted to get a fresh opinion on a couple of questions.
First, I am looking at adding some sort of aftermarket in dash radio/navigtion, or possibly buying a stock unit, and putting it in.
Any ideas or comments? Any pics of aftermarket installs that work and look good?
Second, I have the 20" chrome wheels, and I was wondering what the majority had as far as winter wheels and tires go.
Thanks in advance.....

I have the Alpine head unit for Ipod only. I dont do cd's no more. I payed $250 for the unit, 90 for the Ipod, and it holds about 80G of music, which is about 12,000 songs. The sound quality is superb, and I have owned some high dollar units from Alpine, Pioneer, Sony. Ive never looked back from this unit I have now.
chevy - I was thinking of buying this unit:

I already negotiated with the dealer I bought the truck off of - they are going to charge me $100 flat to install the unit.
If I bought this through them - they said there cost was $2600.......

That's still a lot of money to have Navigation considering all the units available today. It's nice to have the factory installed unit but damn that's a lot! I would buy an aftermarket unit so it could be used in multiple vehicles. The one I bought I can even use on my boat.
No, I wasnt planning on spending that much, if anything, I was going to buy the unti from gmpartsdirect.com....
Only 1200 there....
Now my dealer is telling me though that they were sent service bulletins from GMC not to re-program new radios, has anyone had this to them?
When I bought the truck, they were ready to seel me the unti, but never mentioned the reprogramming.....

I had an '07 with the factory nav and while the large display was nice, the unit functioned poorly. I never really trusted the system after it made some major mistakes. I sold that truck and bought a '09 and specifically told the salesman to find one without the nav installed. Too much money for something that looks good but works like crap. I use a Garmin in my new truck ($250) and am completely satisfied with the unit. I got a mount that clips on the AC vents on the dash so I don't have to have it on the dash or windshield. Works good, looks good......can't beat that. Good luck.
