Default New Rattle

I've felt this before in trucks that I test drove, and started to feel it in mine. It's a rattle that I feel through the steering. It doesn't rattle the steering wheel, I'm just able to feel it through the wheel like it is something in the front end. I only feel it every once in a while over certain bumps, and it feels as though something is loose in the front end. Nothing major yet, but I wanted to ask if anybody has experienced this same sort of thing. By the way, I drive an 04 Z71 4x4 ( half ton )

I have a 05 crew cab, about a week ago my steering wheel started feeling the same way. It it worse now very clunky, mainly when I turn. I heard its the intermediate steering shaft and you can grease it or replace it. Nobody seems to have found a permanent fix though.

the NEW shaft (90 bucks from gm) fixes it..don't bother greasing yours.
if you want a temporary fix, unbolt the shaft under the hood and stroke it (insert sex joke here) about 20 times and bolt er right back up.
you';ll be AMAZED!

More than likely I'll fix it. I'm not much for the temp-fix. Thanks for the tip.

Z71TwoTone -

Thanks for posting the steering rattle problem! I'm experiencing the exact same thing onmy '06 and was quickly becoming curious as to how much the fix was going to cost .......

Any idea as to how difficult the intermediate steering shaft is to replace? I haven't looked at mine yet and am too lazy to check it tonight .....
