Oil for short trips?

Oil for short trips?
I have a 07 Silverado V8. I only put on about 15 miles per day, because I live so close to work. I understand that short trips are not good for the engine. I have 700 miles on it and will change it around 1000. Do you think a Synthetic oil would be better for my use?--short trips and all?---I wonder if Chevy recommends it??.
I was thinking of Valvoline Syn. 5/30 or just use Castrol GTX and change it more often??
Thanks in advance!!

RE: Oil for short trips?
short trips does not let the engine reach full temp and therefore, does not burn off all condensation. this condensation will lay in the exhaust and inside the engine. with cars only driven on short trips you should probably change the oil a little more often. but all in all no real harm done other that the exhaust rotting sooner.

RE: Oil for short trips?
Doesn't your truck have the oil life indicator system? If so, go by that. It will take into account short trips. There is no problem using synthetic oil in a new engine. If it was a problem, manufacturers would not use it as a factory fill. I have always drained my new vehicle oil as quickly as I can, usually around 100 miles, and installed synthetic. I happen to use Mobil 1 because of the superior results I saw in test data.
