Passenger Power Window

Passenger Power Window
Anyone out there ever changed a Power Window motor on the new body style Silverado. I know the old style had the spring loaded regulator, that needed to be removed and locked before the motor could be changed. But with the new cable style regulator, can you just remove the bolts holding the motor to the regulator while the unit is in the door? Just trying to find a safe short cut if I can. Any help appreciated.

yeah the window motors in the new style trucks are easy to change. Try to get the window all the way up and tape it up there. Then just loosen the the two clamps that hold it to the window, then pull the four or five nuts that hold it to the door and fish out and replace it.

Just to be sure we are on the same page. I am replacing the motor only, not the entire assembly. Just wondering if the cables are spring loaded or something that's going to go flying when I take the motor off the regulator. Thanks for your responce.

Maccoy, is your motor completely dead? I'm having problems with my passenger window also. It takes about a week to roll it up!! If you can, give me a price of what you paid for you're motor, because I'm sure I'll be replacing mine soon. Take care!

Yes my motor is completely dead. Checked the switches and wiring and they're all good. Motor did run slower and slower before it just quit (luckily in the Up position). All the parts stores carry the motor. I got mine at Schucks for $42 with a $25 Core charge. Mine is a rebuilt model. I believe a brand new one can be had for $79

RE: Passenger Power Window
i honestly havent just changed the motor and i havent really checked that out. Its easier to just change the whole unit. I bought the one for my truck for $120. You will still have to pull the whole unit out to change just the motor and my experience with them is that if the motor has gotten that weak then the cables probably wont last that much longer either. My truck had just over hundred thousand on it and the cable started to fray but the motor was fine so its just a thought.
