Default Please help! 07 Silverado radio problem

Hey guys, I need someone that knows something about factory stereos. I just bought an 07 Silverado, but have been having a problem with the radio. When I drive the truck the music 'fades' in and out at very intermittant times. The dealer replaced the head unit and the problem is still there. I have no clue what could be causing this - any help is GREATLY appreciated.

More details: It only happens when the
car is in motion. It only happens when I am listening to the radio, not the cd player. The antenna is apparently hooked up correctly (the dealer says so). My truck has the Onstar system, and I know it interfaces with the radio, but not sure if this could cause the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

does it fade out when you slow down, then get louder as you speed up?

Not sure I understand...the music will get louder as you go faster...but I assume this is not your problem??

it depends on your radio as well...an upgraded system has an amp in the console...this may well be the problem.
if you want, send me your VIN,and I;'ll see what system this truck has

Hi.I've had no problems so far with mine..same model! I am assuming you've checked the auto volume option in the controls, make sure its on off. You can make it louder or softer due to road noise and such. Good luck ! ChevyChick

Mine had bad reception when I got it and I had to replace the entire antenna. The old one had no visible problems (cracks, missing insulation, connected tightly to truck and radio, etc) but for some reason it didn't work very well.

You had to replace the whole antenna? What did that cost you? How hard was it to install? Where did you get it from? Sorry for all of the questions, but I really want this fixed... Thanks!

Thanks for your responses guys (and gal). One thing to make clear... It definitely is not the auto volume control that the radio DOES have, but I turned it completely off. I was hoping that was the issue when I thought of it, but no luck.

Hey Argon, I will grab the VIN and send it to you if you think you can help me... Otherwise, the system that is in my car is the stock radio (not the upgraded Bose system).
