hey im new here. i am looking into buying a silverado. its a 2004 and has 63K miles on it. it has a 6 inch lift with brand new wheels and tires. i have got the dealership down to $14500, and they will pay off what i owe on my car. is this a good deal?

the main reason for buying a truck is for pulling my boat. is 63K miles too much for pulling a boat.??? i would be financing it for 6 years.

any opinions?
how long has your newer silverado lasted?

Sounds like a good deal to me. 63,000 miles is minor. Hopefully it has the 5.3L or 6.0L, especially with the 6" of lift, and depending on what size tires are on it. With a 6" lift, it should have quite a bit bigger tires than stockies. I'll bet it looks good too. I'd love to go to like 33's on my truck but just not feesable or practical. Love the looks of lifted trucks but..................

 

it has the 5.3 its extended cab. not positive on the tires, but im thinkin 35's.

 

If it does have bigger tires on it, you will want to make sure that it is geared right. I mean you dont want to be pulling a boat with a 5.3, 35s and 3:42 gears

 

Agreed! The truck should have at least 4.10 gears. If not look into what it would cost to get them put in, and factor that into the cost of the truck, maybe use it a bargaining chip.

35's would make sense with a 6" lift.

 

In my experience, big tires and frequent towing lead to early transmission failure. If you buy the thing, get either a deep sump trans pan or a big trans oil cooler before you tow. I'm sure I don't have to tell you your gas mileage is going to suck!

 

He COULD be just fine (IMO) if he were to make sure the tires weren't too far out of stock. If they are then get a new set of gears.

Then like JCBST12 said, get a deep sump tranny pan, and bigger oil cooler. (May not be a bad idea to do the engines pan if already under there, it would help run the motor cooler!)

Also get an diff cover with more capacity and cooling fins. (This would help keep the diff in the truck)

 

You can put 33's under stock suspension. On the Z-71 anyway. That's what I have on mine.

 

Yep, sure can, that is what I had on my truck for about 3 years. (D@mn TSL thornbirds dont wear very good)

All you have to do is have the right off set on the wheels and turn the T-bars up two or more turns and they will only rub when turning and banking hard, hitting a bump or braking.

They look very good on Silverado!!!
