Default Purchase a 2002 1500HD with 230K miles?

Basic question is - would it be crazy to purchase a 2002 Silverado 1500HD Crew Cab with 230K miles on it? The owner is a buddy of mine and I know that he maintains it well. The truck has never had any major mechanical failure and is in great shape generally. Those miles scare me to death, though....
Thoughts?

Its all in the price...with those miles, even highway miles...you have to expect a tranny soon ...water pump, fuel pump, hubs, etc

Get er cheap or look elsewhere

I would not be afraid of those miles as long as he has kept up with maintenance. But with that many miles I am sure he has. If the truck was 20 years old with those miles I would worry. The biggest major failure with any gm vehicle seems to be the transmission.
The price should reflect the miles and any known defects. Kelly bue book shows a 02 1500 hd 4wd private party sale price of $11,300 in good condition. And just over $12k in excellent condition with those miles.

Good luck.

As far as the engine i would not worry, theyare literally like a rock, i just pulled mine at 204,000 only because i found a new one for a good deal. When i pulled it though, it ran awesome, maybe not as much power as it did earlier in life, but dependable as hell, and i worked the **** out of its whole life, so i wouldnt worry about that, I WOULD worry about the tranny, as mine was done at that same time.
