I was replacing the rear brake pads on my '03 Silverado yesterday, and i noticed that the drivers side backing plate / dust shield was in rough shape. I could actually poke my fingers through it. I checked the passengers side and that one is fine. Seemed weird to me, just 1 side would be rusted through. I have only owned the truck less than a year, so i don't know what the prior owner may have done. Anyways, i was told, the backing plates are a GM item only. I think they're like $40.00 new. Does anyone make aftermarket ones?
