Default Question about aftermarket shocks

Okay, so basically I own a 05 z71 1500 and it's got 33" AT's on the stock wheels and I would like to put a 2.5" leveling/lift kit on it. Question is, with maxing out the stock suspension up front, I would like to go ahead and purchase the aftermarket shocks that can give you up to 6" of leeway. I was wondering if I could run these without my lift/leveling kit until it gets here and everything be okay?

Thanks in advance!

If by leeway you mean the shocks travel I would not put them on until after the lift is done. Assuming the static postion of the lift would put the new shock at it's midposition you have 3 inches up and 3 inches down. If you put them on before the lift you will have 5.5 iches of up and only .5 inches of down travel. You'll damage the shock.
