when buying a reciever hitch should i look at universal ones or model specific ones.

 

I've never purchased one aftermarket or installed one. I would imagine a model specific would be more...wel.....model specific.
Is there a major price difference?

 

no real price difference just a waiting/shipping difference. and a shipped one may very well turn out to be able to fit other models to. i forgot to mention its a 1 piece and not one with seperate pieces that you have to build before installing.

 

You need one thats fits your model. It has to be the same width as the frame. They have them at 4wheelparts.com. My buddy got a universal and had to do some cuttin.

 

Definately model specific, or you may not get the strength you are looking for.

 

you could look a u-haul. they install them at their shop here. I don't know about the rest of the country. I have had them put on my dad's van and my mustang and they did a good job and are reasonably priced but that was 5 years ago.
