Default Replacing the 4L60E Transmission

2000 Silverado 1500 4.3L Vortec w/4L60E Transmission. 2 WHEEL DRIVE.

I just got back from the transmission shop. The truck has 162K on the stock transmission and it's finally starting to give out. I'm getting a grinding noise and slipping in 2nd and 3rd gear. To remedy I added some Lucas Stop Slip for the time being but I'm going to have to rebuild or replace. my truck has 162k, so I don't want to go with a 4L80e, just a stock 4L60E for another 4L60E.

My question is, will any 4L60E transmission work?? Will a 4X4 version of the 4L60E Work? Or does it have to be a specific year or build to work in my truck??

THank you,

Anthony

It really is a gamble when lookin for a used transmission not knowing how much wear it has been through. If you can find a well known shop to rebuild yours with a warranty, trust me the extra money is worth it. I bought a used one and turned out the pump was bad and sunshell broken. Had it rebuilt anyway. IJS.
