Default Replacing thermostat 88 Sierra

Hello and thanks for helping...
I recently replaced my thermostat on my 88 GMC K1500 Sierra. It has the 5.7 ltr motor, a pretty simple job. However, I now have a leak right at the gasket. I didn't use any type of gasket sealer. Should I have used a gasket sealer? It seems like I like to do my repair jobs twice, so I'm guess the answer will be yes. If the answer is yes, what type of gasket sealer is recommended? Thanks, Mike

Default RE: Replacing thermostat 88 Sierra

it has to have some kind of gasket...either a paper gasket or a stat with an o-ring around it
