Smog Check & Predator...
I have a question for the old salts around here.. My truck ('02 Silverado, 5.3L)is living in California right now. As everybody knows California has very strict emmissions laws. My mom is holding onto my truck while I am stationed overseas and I received a notice that my truck is due for a smog check.. My mom is not what you would call tech savy at all as far as electronic things go.
My question is this. Should I (have my mom)restore my factory tune w/ my predator or would it make any difference on the outcome of the smog check? In CA the second you fail the smog test it gets sent to the state gov. I would like to avoid that as much as possible...
Thanks in advance for your quick reply.

I would remove it just becouse it is easy to do, and because of cali emisions. Do you live in an area that does the load smog test? ( do they put it on a dyno to put a load on it or is it just the high idle and regulare idle?)
Thanks for the input guys..
Every smog place I have been to inCalifornia puts it on a dyno to smog it.
I will have her remove it.. I sent her the instructions. They are pretty self explanatory..

You must be in a highly populated area, when I was up in Northern Cali they don't have to do the enhanced smog, they only have to do the two speed idle test.
Definetly remove the programmer, you will have a better chance of passing.
Short story, last week I had to smog my truck. Not a big deal but I have out of state plates and it was last registered up in Tehama county (Really Northern Cali). So I had to only do the two speed idle.
