RE: So will 285 70 r17 fit on 17" wheels
OK, finally got my tires (had to not show up to work today). I have driven @ 80 miles and there is no rubbing at all. Also, as of yet no fuel milage difference, and maybe just a very slight decrease in acceleration (but in may be in my head). I attached pics so you can see the clearance. The tires look great. These are Kuhmo AT. I am having trouble getting my pics to come up, so I will try again later.

So now having that size on do you think putting a inch widder tire on would fit? Thanks

Yes an inch wider will fit, as long as you go no taller, with 5/8" clearance between outside of tire and front bumper. But I would be careful not to hit a bump with the tires turned. I think that even with my tires if I hit a significant bump It may rub. I drove 600 miles today (mostly interstate) and no rub at all. My milage is down a little, but the wind was blowing hard and I had the cruise set from 80-85. I was getting 15.2 mpg on the way and 15.7 on the way back. That also includes several hard accelerations (people being stpid trying to block me in).
