Default Something wrong with trans?

Hello. I have a 1992 Silverado 4wd, 350 with a 5 speed manual...All my gears shift fine, but when I get into 3rd-5th gears, if I hit the gas too hard it just kind of revs up like if I had the clutch depressed..but I have it fully released..anyone know what this could be?

What's Your Name? Can we Call You the Breeze?

Revving like a Free Bird? I'm just a Simple Man who listens to Swamp Music and I've never been to Sweet Home Alabama. I'd say your clutch is goin' out. Can you smell That Smell of a hot clutch? It's similar to hot brakes.

It's a hydrolic clutch right? Check the master and slave cylinders for leaks. If you change the clutch it wouldn't hurt to change the slave while you're there.

That's not original. They are all Lynyrd Skynyrd titles. That makes me a one man cover band.

Definately clutch. Its probably just starting to go. Try starting out in second and giving it alot of gas, it should slip. Nothing else would cause that on a 5 speed.

The clutch has recently been changed, less than a year ago...a friend suggested it's just the slave..could the slave cyl alone do that?

If the master or slave cylinder is leaking it will inhibit your ability to disengage the clutch.....you can't shift. If the pin in the slave is sticking you would notice slip. If the clutch was not broken in properly it can cause glazing on the clutch face and you would notice slip. If only the clutch was replaced and not the pressure plate, the tines could be bent/worn inhibiting the full engagement of the clutch.
Does it slip in all gears under hard acceleration? Was the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing replaced?
