Default Speedometer Disfunction

Hello All:
Today I filled up with gas and when I restarted my truck the speedometer went all the way over to the 140mph area. ( My speedometer reads 120mph max) All other gauges on my dash are functioning fine. It wont move at all now. Whats the problem? Is there a fix i could do? Fuse, Relay? Thanks for any help. My truck is a 2003 2500HD 4wd with 105000 on the ticker.

Michael

I have a fully functional instrument cluster out of my '99 Sliverado Z71 (103,000 miles) that I will be listing on E-bay soon. I will be upgrading mine next week. I don't know if it is the same as your 2003.

i agree with argon. I just got a letter in the mail from gm addressing this. it said that it has been happening on some of the silverados and that they will fix it for free on a case by case basis. so it is not a "total recall" but it should be fixed for free.
