Default Sputtering

Ok guys need some help.88 k1500 w/5.7L tbi. When I acc. it starts sputtering and popping like a backfire but not w/ the loud bang.It will cruise at speed w/ no problem just when I give it some throttle its starts. Most noticeable when it is in OD in between 40- 50mph and get on the gas, wires look ok,pulled plug and appeared not rich/lean.Tested TPS and numbers on ohms looked good.I'm a single parent living check to check so I can't afford to just throw parts at it!Oh yeah No power adders or mods..all stock except muffler

Thats sounds like it gonna be an ignition problem. Need to diagnose for bad timing. Maybe a bad distributor, timing chain, cap and rotor, spark plugs, etc.

i'm in west tn and idk if anybody saw this on the news, but we had some recent flooding, and we've had a rash of cars come in to my work with those exact complaints, turns out to be water in the gas, eventually ruins the fuel pump.

but it could also be spark. checking your gas is easier/cheaper.

You know come to think of it, I just changed out my fuel filter the other day and it only had bout 8k miles on it. It was black and watery coming out of it. The cold start ups were gettin worse. Sounded like I had big *** cam for a few seconds. So I second that, bad gas is a big possibility.

My 99 2500 Silverado did the same thing and it turned out to be the plug wires.
