Default starting problems

just finished painting my 95 gmc 1500, put a new 305, with a carb set up, headers, and new exhaust, well really everything is new but the starter, well she starts fine but if i travel any distance , she cranks really hard when i get back in her to go again sometimes i have to wait about 30 min before she will turn over, and if its cold no problem so i am thinking the starter is getting hot and wont crank , i do have a insulation blanket over the starter but still wont crank when the engines at temp. any ideas would be great thanks

It's the starter solenoid that's worn out but honestly it's not too difficult to swap a starter and about the same price as having a solenoid rebuilt.
