So another problem, my stereo wont work, all fuses ok, deck works (took it to best buy to see if it was the problem and it is fine). I'm getting 12 volts at the fuse under the drivers side dash, but yet, the stereo wont even turn on. could it be a bad ground? where do i look? wiring gremlin? any other ideas?

Factory stereo or aftermarket? Did it just quit one day or is this a new vehicle to you? How did best buy test it and why couldn't they get it to work if it is fine?

 

after market stereo, new to me 93 sierra, it worked before but not now. i took the deck out of the truck into best buy and they plugged it in for me and it worked, they didnt fix it because they wouldnt be able to until the new year since they are so busy

 

Look behind the unit and see if you have power to the red and yellow wire with the key on and that the black wire is grounded. There might be an inline fuse as well as a fuse on the back of the radio itself that you should check too.

 

i changed the fuse at the back of the stereo. i will check those wires and see if i get anything. how do i check if the black wire is grounded, do i have to follow the wire? (i know stupid question)
