Default Subwoofer in New Sierra with Stock Radio.

I recently bought one of the new body style GMC Sierra's which I think will hopefully be as good of a truck as the 2000 that I traded in. However, stock radios have always left a little something to be desired in the audio department. The new truck has the stock (non navigation) stereo in itand it really doesn't sound that bad although as it ages the cheap speakers dont typically last long. In my last truck I installed an infinity baselink sub which was great to use with a stock radio since it can simply splice into one of your rear speaker wires for an input. Plus it is small and space is always an issue in a truck cab. It worked great in the last truck. I tried to install it in the new truck last night though and the speaker that I tapped into simply did not have enough level. I could hear the baselink putting out sound but the level simply was too low to push much volume.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to add a subwoofer to the stock GM radios that come in these trucks? I really don't want to change the stereo in the truck since the controls are all on the steering wheel, XM radio, and the like. Is there an external amp or perhaps a completely different solution out there?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

I put a Memphis bass package (PRD 500.1) in my 2001 extended cab (4-door) and it works very well!

You can by an adapter (through radio shack or stereo shop) that you tie into your left and rear chanels. But if you wanted to upgrade your head unit in your truck and still keep your steering wheel controls you can. You just buy a trigger module and program it. Its simple, I have done it. I have a touch screen dvd player, xm, ipod, and navigation all controlled through my steering wheel. Crutchfield sales reps should be able to help you either way you go.
