suggestions for my truck
alright, i have a 98 k 1500.Its got the V8 5.0and im currently putting a 6 inch rough country lift on her. I got some 35 12.50s pro comp all terrain and 16X10 pro comp aluminum rims that look sweet. does anyone know if ill have trouble turning the tires and what is the fender flare law for PA? the tire tread ends at the stock trim but the tire itselfcomes out the side about 2 inches or so. If i need them ill get the bushwacker pocket flares but i still have a lot of work to do before i get her on the road. Ill post some pics so far

RE: suggestions for my truck
Good luck turning those tires I had a 1998 with the 305 and had to damn near floor the thing in four wheel drive with 265's on it, the 305 just doesn't have the power to turn 35's and forget about pulling anything.

Well it all depends on the gears. Most people over look that but it is one of the most important parts of truck. I am guessing with that 305 you prob have 3.42 gears. Which yes will suck!! With those tires, and especially that engine you are prob going to need 4.10's.
Here is how you tell what you have. Look at your vin and figure out which one of these you have.
GQ1 STD RATIO
GT4 3.73 RATIO
GT5 4.10 RATIO
GU4 3.08 RATIO
GU5 3.23 RATIO
GU6 3.42 RATIO
G80 LIMITED SLIP (POSITRACTION)

RE: suggestions for my truck
Im running the stock gears but my truck has some *****. I hope they will turn then but if i have to change the gears i will. How expensive and how much of a pain is it to swap gears? I will check the gears when i get to my shop tomorow

those codes are listed in the glove box, not in the vin number. i know alot of the 305's had 3.42's. unfortunately GM went back to this trend for the 05-07 classics. such a horrible gear for anything other than running 70@1800rpm on the highway.
