Suspicious 05 2500HD for sale.
I am looking at an 05 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD :
-70,469 miles -Extended cab short box
-5 spd manual
-6.0 litre
I went down and looked at it and upon inspection of the front under carriage I found some red mud caked up just behind the skid plate ( or somewhere in that vicinity, it was 2 weeks ago ). I inquired about the origin of this truck being sold in the northwest united states and was told it came from new mexico. I also noted privatly that this truck was supposedly fully inspected but somehow they missed the mud. I asked to see the list of things that the dealer mechanic had done to this truck. The salesman showed me a parts list which included a front right quarter panel and front bumper among other things i cant quite remember. The truck was also fitted with 4 brand new tires
I drove the truck and it ran nice, sounded nice and all the gearing working well ( including the 4 high and 4 low ). After some chatting I offered $10,000 for the truck and was turned down. 2 weeks later they phone me up and say they need to move this truck to make room for smaller cars and will take my reasonable offer.

What should I think about this truck. Has it been ditched? The carfax the dealer showed me was clean. Is the frame twisted or bent? Should a complete set of tires be worn out after only 70,000 miles? It seems like maybe a good deal if I can get it for 9500, but I just dont want to get burned here.Any advice? Thanks

I would say go for it, tho 70,000 miles are high mileage, for being an '05, but i wouldn't worry about that. New tires.... THATS a GOOD thing. When i bought my '03, it needed tires, and the dealer put 4 new ones on it. It had about 60,000 miles on it then. My truck also had a few small dings, dents and dimples, had mud under the undercarriage, and i found beer bottle caps throughout the interior, and the saleslady was even surprised. One of the mirrors (Pass side), had a cracked housing but still worked, up until 2 weeks ago. Its been a good truck so far, and it has 77,000 miles on it now. I just replaced all the brakes. I have replaced 1 front wheel speed sensor w/ hub assembly maybe 6 mos ago, and basically thats it. Maybe have your local mechanic check it over before you buy it, but i'd say, $9,500.00 for an '05 2500HD is an awesome deal, but have a deep pocket for about 11 MPG with that 6.0L. Just my opinion, Jim

No worries! I have a copy of the carfax in my hand and the vin number on it matches the vin number listed on the sales ad online.
I also was wondering about putting in power windows and powerlocks? Any experience out there?
Thanks for reading!
