Default switching to 4.10s

Who has switched to the 4.10 rearend? I was vaguely considering this cause I definitely would benefit from this since I tow everyday. Don't know enough about rearends to do it myself. How much do ya'll think it would cost to have a shop do it plus parts?

Also when you buy the gears do they come with everything that goes in the rear end? I think I need a better limited slip too.

i have the 07 silverado classic with 4.10s...and an LSD...i think you should prolly run 373s...my 410 are a bit durastic in mine...but i know i can pull a house down should i have to.....also think about gas mileage..i get 14 in town, and 17 or 18 on highway.

HEH! Don't get me wrong I can pull a lot with my truck. I went through a dump out of town one day that made me weigh in and I was at like 12,500lbs. with my truck and trailer included (wood is heavy[&:]). I do this kinda crap with my truck everyday so I think it would be drastically beneficial for me to switch to 4.10s as long as it doesn't cost too much. Bout to call the Chevy dealership and ask. Truck has been idleing odd for a while now. Tach doesn't show it but you can feel the truck has these tiny, almost unnoticeable tremors and shakes while your just sitting. Doesn't run funny but I don't think it is normal so we'll see.

As far as the gas is concerned, BigTexasChevy, yours sounds about like mine.

72C harger -you are looking at $1000 an axle most places, and that is just gears, bearings, and labor. As far as the limited slip or a locker - that will be additional part cost, but should not add labor cost.

I swapped the rear axle in my buddy's truck for a 14 bolt corperate with 4.10s and a locker for under $900... Eight lugs are cool, too.... Direct fit from a 2500HD...

What do you mean? The one you have in your truck right now? Just look at the bolt pattern and compare it to the gaskets in a Summit Catalog... Or ask Argon. He can tell you...
