could be a trans. press. issue, but I would try resetting the computer 1st then start looking at tranny fluid and press.

well reset the computer and nothing. its still not shifting out of first until about 22 or 23 MPH and it just sounds like its getting to high before it finally shifts up and its a hard shift.

ThaT 89 is not computer controlled at all...you can adjust it at the throttle cable...make the rod "shorter" for it to shift sooner

are you talking about the secondary cable on the trottle body argon? the lower one that goes down to the tranny?

the one that goes to the trany..The "TV" cable,as its called..

you mash in a flat button on it,and adjust the slider,....make it shorter to shift quicker

ok, so no improvement. and today i went to work and i noticed now that its taking even longer to shift out. so its revving high and wont shift till about 30-35 now, my only guess is its something inside the tranny?
