Default Tapping & Whistle

99 Silverado 5.3 Vortec

Have had a tapping sound for a few weeks now. Couple of days it was so loud I actually shut the truck off in fear something awful was happening. Once I punch the gas a few times, hard, it goes away. I am think an oil blockage or oil pressure issue? It only goes away if I punch it.

Also, after starting I hear a whistle sound, which can be heard in the video. I warmed up the engine so the tapping is at a minimal so you can hear it.

Thoughts?

Remove you belt and start it and see if it is still there. That will eliminate an accessory.

The whistle is from the alternator. I put a bigger amp alt on mine and the whistle got louder. Its normal.
