the tccm is used does this mean that it still needs programing?

As long as the vehicle it came out of has the same transfer case that you have, you should be ok. Same being RPO option in glove box has to be the same as yours. Should have one of the following (NP1,NP2,NP3,NP8).

i do have a np8 replacement
