Default throttle body spacer

I bought the airaid intake (for my '05 5.3L)and sent away for the free throttle body spacer. I love the intake, but had acouple questions about the spacer. In the instructions, it says if the spacer is installed right, it should whistle. It does, but only if I am up to speed and punch the gas. My buddy has the same set up and his whistles even when he taps the gas. I made sure it is on the correct way and it is. Also, my check engine light came on. Any ideas on what caused it and how to fix it?
Thanks guys,
Ryan

The style and make of the throttle body spacer have an effect on this. A spiral (torque curve) TBS will whistle more than a smooth bore, for example. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine only whistles above 2000 rpms and when I punch the gas.

I have a smooth bore and there is no whistle. It is a trans dapt though. I owuld not worry about it, if it is installed correctly.

Also you do need to tighten those bolts on the throttlebody to 97in-pounds otherwise you will get a small intake leak or if you tighten it too much you will destroy your gasket and need another.

have to put a scanner to the truck and pull the code to see why that ses light has been tripped.

the helix and the torque curve are probably similar in that they whistle and build low end power. i wouldn's write them off just because of a whislte.

chevybassguy - try resetting the computer first and see if it comes back on (unhook neg ground for 1 min). Then try autozone to get a free scan to see what the code is to make sure it is related.
