If you have tire pressure sensors in your factory wheels and want to put new rims on what do you do about the sensors? Can they be removed and installed on a different wheel?

 

yep. they are wireless. some are mounted to the valve stems, in which case make sure you tell the tire shop to swap the valve stems, or in some cases they are mounted remotely on the wheel, in which case i'd just get some glue and glue them onto the new wheel somewhere. either way it will work

 

What powers them to send a signal to the cumputer?

 

some have batteries, others dont... im not really sure how the ones with no batteries work lol

 

Thanks for the help. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy new ones. I don't know if mine are stuck to the valve stem or somewhere else in the wheel. I have heard that sometimes the low tire pressure sensor will come on because the new tires require a different psi. I think I'll be fine with the ones that I am considering.

 

again not sure which design your specific sensors are, but some work on the actual number of psi, while most designs work on a pressure differential system. so if all tires are at 2 or 200 psi, there is no light. so its a possibility it may or may not be a problem.
