Tire wear

Tire wear
I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 5.3 that I bought new that has always worn the front tires but just the outside corner. It's almost like the tires are rolling under when cornering. It started with the factory tires that came on the truck and I complained to the dealership about it several times. Each time they checked everything and found no alignment or front end problems. I have also taken it to independent shops after putting new tires on but they found nothing wrong either. . Since it has done it since new I wouldn't suspect wear as being an issue. The only advise I ever get is to be sure and rotate the tires but that just gives me 4 worn tires instead of two. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

I know this may seem obvious, but you didn't mention it. You check the air pressure regularly? If they are underinflated you are going to wear the outsides quickly. Also, rotating every 6,000 miles or so really does help w/ even wear.

are you getting a print out of your alignment measurements from your shop? if not i would ask for one... some shops only "set the toe and let it go" and outside tire wear would indicate excessive positive camber. make sure they are being thorough.

Exactly! Most shops don't check camber like they should. Find a reputable shop and tell them to make sure they check the camber as well. I don't think the 3 pounds low you were running them would make them wear like that. Good Luck!

Yeah I agree. The only thing that could cause every tire that sits on the front suspension to wear like that would be negative camber. It also could be a worn coil spring but you would be able to tell cuz the front end would drop or lean.

I have 2 fords and the chevy. I have two neighbors who have Chevys and I am the only one with problems. I would think the alignment shops would have checked camber since I took the truck in to check on this specific tire wear problem.
