tire width

ok so i know it sounds stupid at least tpo me, but i was told u could go wider than ur rim, i have a 10 wide rim whats the biggest width on the tire i can go? thanks beforehand

You can go wider, I have 8" rims and have 11.50" tire on now. but I had 12.50's on before. I don't think there is a set rule of don't go so much wider than your rim. I think if you can get the bead to set and you like the way it looks, go for it. Now for handleing I think you want to stay as close to the rime size as possible. Maybe a little wider on the tire.

I've always been told to never go more than 3" wider than your rim width. I don't know though. Might be true. Might not.

I just remember the older cars that had wire wheels and offset out really far. So like a 13-14" and it would be about 6-8" wide wheel, with like 4-5" wide cheap white walls.

It looked dorky as hell, espectially when the tire sidewall was streatched out as far as they could to get mounted and set the bead.

IMO it was goofy looking!

haha thanks guys and def not on a car. on a 98 silverado wit 6"lift and 3in PA bl. going with 36x13 on 18x10 gear alloy injectors. shouldnt look half bad. right?

It should look pretty good. I think you will find that it may be too tall, and have you considered changing the gear set? The 36's will definetly bog down the truck. I would definetly consider changing the gear set. Just a recommendation!
