Default Too Many Lug Nut Choices

Hello all. I am new to this forum and hopefully won't make too many mistakes. I have a 2003 Silverado 1500HD LS Quadrasteer 4 wheel drive. I have ordered a new set of Mickey Thompson 17x9, 8 on 6.5, Sidebiter II wheels to replace the stock 16". I am having a hard time figuring out what lug nuts to order. The stock lugs are M14x1.5 thread acorn bulge. Figuring out that part has so far been easy. The real challenge for me is figuring out what length and exterior size. Factory nuts are open on the end but aftermarket aren't and they come in basically a 1.4" or a 2" length. This raises the question for me of what is the shortest length I will be able to use without the lug bottoming out. The other variable is exterior size. Standard is pretty much a 3/4 or 13/16 acorn hex. There's also a duplex which I was told is 7/8. The other option is a slimmer lug nut that is splined instead of hex. So far neither the wheel or lug nut manufacturer has been able to answer these questions. Any help would be appreciated. Right now I am waiting on the wheels to arrive (Tuesday the 16th) to measure the flange thickness and area where the lugs actually sit. Thanks.
