Be aware, if you turn up the torsion bars or put new keys in it you will stress the tortion bars beyond there original intented torque limits. basically you COULD brake a bar, they are basically just a spring that twists, if you twist it up then twist it even more when the suspension flexes you may brake one. That is what I was told by a tire guy (a friend of mine). I didn't turn mine too far, maybe two turns to get my 33's to clear when I turned on flat land. And yes they do directly effect the allignment. Kinda like fords old twin I-beam front suspension but they had a way of correcting that one.

 

You should be good with new keys, I have never head ofissues with them. Unlike just cranking original bars you can still get a decent ride from them as the new can still travel. Just get the alignment done later to make sure you don't wear stuff out.

can't you put ford (gasp) keys in there? i heard the ford (gasp)keys are shaped so that they will allow more lift... it may be just like cranking yours up all the way though and mess up front end parts, im not sure... could be cheaper though to get ford (gasp) keys from a junkyard than get new ones

 

Yes the "fix or repair daily" keys will fit. And they are cheaper if you can find them but you can get the old style GM keys on ebay for like $50.

 

(gasp) Ford parts on a Chevy? (GASP!) Lol, sorry it looked fun. Oh speaking swapping parts, My neighbor as an old 32' Ford Coupe that is a true show stopper. It has a Chevy big block, Turbo 400 trans, and a even a Chevy 10-bolt rear end. Airbrushed on the back is a sign that says "Built Ford Tuff with Chevy Stuff". My favorite slogan.

I checked with Cabot Tire & Off Road here in Arkansas, he quoted me $150 for larger torsion keys installed on my truck. Takes about 1 hour. How sweet is that!

 

that sounds pretty good... im not sure how involved changing out torsion keys, but it sounds good to me
